Purpose and Belief
 
To provide an environment where single-parents and their children can come together, build relationships, pool their resources, assist each other in daily challenges and discuss their concerns and ideas. The SPORTIN04 belief is as single-parents we have a right and a need to come together and help one another in the absence of the other parent.  As well, it is our belief that our children deserve the best opportunities in life despite of their family composition and/or unique situations. It is our belief and purpose through education and support to strengthen the single parent family as they strive for success.
SPORTIN04 History
 
 S.P.O.R.T.I.N.04 was founded by Yumeeka Oliver who is an active member and single mother of three children. The name is an acronym meaning, Single Parent Outreach Resource & Togetherness Is Necessary.  The 04 is for the year the idea was put on paper. As a single mother, she has experienced many hardships because of the lack of support and information available to her and her children. Because of her experiences that she to this day is still having to face she felt that the need was there to organize another opportunity of help and support for all single parents.  Although it had been her brainchild for about a year S.P.O.R.T.I.N.04 did not get started until 2004. Even at this point, only the beginning of the foundation was laid for this organization. There are many organizations that provide help and because of her giving and helpful nature she wanted to organize an additional resource and safe haven of help to local single parents.  The history of SPORTIN is in the making but the plans for the future of this organization are endless and well thoughtout.
Charity of Choice
 
 
The charity that SPORTIN04 has chosen to periodically raise funds for is CHADD, Children and Adults With Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. This non-profit organization was chosen as the charity of choice because the founding member has a child who suffers from the disorder.
